International Women’s Day Gifts She’ll Love

Hey lovelies!

Today is one of my favorite holidays – International Women’s Day!

Would you believe that this holiday is taken so seriously in Russia and other countries, that it’s an official day off?!

I’ve been in the United States for 14 years, but I’ve never seen much action around this day. However, I’ve noticed it really picking up the last few years, and I couldn’t be happier about it!

International Women’s Day Gifts She’ll Love

In Russia, men give women gifts and flowers. From loved ones, friends, daughters, sisters and mothers – every woman is celebrated.

Male coworkers organize parties for their female coworkers, and there are countless concerts thrown.

In fact, it’s more heavily celebrated than Mother’s Day!

It’s also very customary for boys in school to give presents to girls as well as teachers.

My Favorite International Women’s Day Memory

One of my favorite memories was in the sixth grade on this day. A boy I knew had a huge crush on me but was really shy about it.

To help boost his courage, he got some boys together from my class and they all stood outside together to wait for me.

When I came out, he gave me a present with all his cheerleaders looking on. It was such a cute moment, and I’m so glad he got up the courage! I also treasured the card, flowers, and perfume he gave me for a long time.

This day was also always punctuated by sweet gifts from my parents, grandparents and fun gift exchanges with my friends. When I got home from school, we would cook our favorite dishes and spend time with one another.

It’s such a special day, and I’m glad that celebrations are catching on here in the US! So I’m celebrating with all the strong women in my life and wanted to share some of my favorite gifts for all the Wonder Women I know.
